Jazmin Jackson, a lifelong resident of San Diego, faced overwhelming challenges with anxiety and depression, and being autistic. In search of a transformative solution and a source of comfort, she embraced the constant presence and unwavering support of a psychiatric service dog. Now, as the passionate Founder of Coastal Canines, Jazmin is committed to spreading a message of hope, solace, and encouragement to those confronting the complexities of life. Her efforts stem from a deeply personal journey of growth and empowerment, inspiring all those who come in contact with her story.
Katie Lekas
Vice President, Head Dog Trainer
Katie, Owner and Head Trainer of CRT K9 and Founder of The Heroic Tail, is a renowned Dog Behavior Specialist who has devoted her life to canine training. From a young age, she has been deeply engaged in understanding dog behavior, focusing on trust-building and behavioral rehabilitation. She founded CRT K9 to provide personalized training solutions for every dog and The Heroic Tail to advocate for dogs in need. Katie sources Coastal Canines service dogs from rescues, giving exceptional dogs a higher purpose. Her work empowers the Coastal Canines team, demonstrating her commitment to giving dogs a chance at a better life.
Carly Deetman
Treasurer/Secretary
Carly Deetman, originally from Encinitas, found inspiration in her finance background acquired while working with talent agencies in Los Angeles. In her role as Treasurer at Coastal Canines, she is recognized for her financial expertise and unwavering dedication to supplying service dogs to individuals with psychiatric disabilities. Carly courageously uses her personal battles with mental health, to stand in solidarity with those encountering similar obstacles, and emphasizing the significance of prioritizing mental well-being.
